$BIIB and SELF Help Women Reimagine Daily Life with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis

Biogen and SELF Help Women Reimagine Daily Life with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis (RMS)

Reimagine MySelf™ encourages women with RMS to make small, but impactful changes through first-of-its-kind program on SELF.com

A chronic disease like relapsing MS (RMS) can complicate common aspects of everyday life, and a new program from Biogen (BIIB) and SELF is helping women navigate these familiar issues. Reimagine MySelf, which is now available on SELF.com, provides women access to editorial content and an exclusive blog series where writers from the SELF Made Blogger Collective and experts offer their best practical advice on style, entertaining, travel, healthy eating and more. Personal tips for women living with RMS are incorporated into all of the blogs to ensure their relevance and meaning for those facing an RMS diagnosis.

Jeannie Mai, style expert and co-host of daytime talk show “The Real,” will contribute to the blog series, providing realistic style and beauty tips inspired by her Aunt Linh who is living with RMS.

“When my Aunt Linh was diagnosed with RMS, I witnessed firsthand how her diagnosis affected her as she faced the uncertainty of what her future may hold,” said Mai. “Not only does she have to deal with some difficult symptoms – which can come and go without warning – she also has seen the impact this disease has on everyday activities like her beauty routine and wardrobe choices.”

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an often debilitating disease of the central nervous system, which impacts 2.3 million people worldwide, often striking them in the prime of their lives. More than two to three times as many women as men develop MS, and approximately 85 percent of people living with MS are diagnosed with RMS, which is the most common form of the disease.

“SELF is thrilled to partner with Biogen to launch the Reimagine MySelf destination on SELF.com,” said Mary Murcko, Publisher, SELF. “This first-of-its-kind program on SELF.com taps SELF’s empowering voice in women’s health and wellness, and leverages our SELF Made Blogger Collective along with RMS experts to create a destination that women living with RMS can turn to for advice.”

The blogs featured on the Reimagine MySelf destination will be refreshed regularly through mid-September, focusing on popular topics like packing for a trip, planning a dinner party, organizing your closet or finding the best ways to exercise at home, each featuring customized tips for women with RMS. Personal accounts from women with RMS who are prescribed a Biogen therapy will also be included in the series. Details about the program will be featured in the September issue of SELF.
